Biotech in a Box is a Virginia Tech Fralin Life Sciences Institute Outreach Program that began with a single DNA Biotechnology kit in 1994. Today, the program provides five different science kits to high school programs throughout the state of Virginia. Biotech in a Box aims to foster scientific curiosity and provide valuable resources to Virginia educators and their students.

Initial ideation was prompted by all combinations of the letter b, boxes, technology, and science.

Design Development

A combination of all initial ideation elements, the final logo is simple, playful, and systematically adaptable.

A breakdown of the final logo shows the intentions behind each detail, and the accompanying imagery shows the applications and development of the logo system created to make each box unique.
