The Archives

A Graphic Design Senior Exhibition Concept Proposal

Archives are spaces often marked by fragile pages collecting dust, yet they are reservoirs of inspiration capable of defining generations of design. When seeking guidance, we often look to the archival works of those who inspire us. Now, the Class of 25’ stands as the next wave of inspiration—uplifting one another and shaping the legacy that will guide future generations. The Archives branding is a collaborative collection of archive-based type, textures, and graphics inspired by previous student work at the College of Design and the sites and platforms on which they themselves are often inspired.

A compilation of brutalism geometric shapes and type mixing, The Archives branding is an ode to the oddities of our time. The collective variety of type used throughout the identity and branding reflects the various expressions and styles of type throughout history. Typography is a key component of graphic design.

Whether student style reflects minimalism, modernism, or art deco, typography is ever evolving and has had a role to place in the establishment of these styles. Throughout the senior exhibition, typography plays a key role in diversifying style and reflecting the individuality of students and their projects.
